A Brief Introduction to Ven. Khenpo Tenzin Trinley

Venerable Khenpo Tenzin Trinley is a genuine Dharma practitioner from Chodrak Khangnai Monastery.

Early education and training of Barom Kagyu Lineage

He was born in 1991 at Nangchen Chodrak, Qinghai Province. He has been a Tibetan Buddhist monk since the year 2000.

After completing his studies, he was awarded his Khenpo degree by the Abbot of Chodrak Khangnai Monastery, His Eminence Aten Phuntsok Rinpoche, on the 10th of March, 2017

Ven. Khenpo Tenzin has dedicated his entire life to study and practice Buddhism and, in service of the Dharma, to bring peace and harmony to people all over the world.

He holds all the relevant qualifications and training to perform the duties required by the Barom Kagyu lineage.

He has studied and practised Tibetan Buddhism for 17 years at Chodrak Khangnai Monastery and studied at the Larung Gar Buddhist Academy.

Larung Gar was founded in 1980 by His Holiness Kyabje Jigme Phuntsok.

Monks and nuns moved to Larung Gar to study and the international population from Tibet, China, Mongolia, and from other Asian countries was said at its peak to officially be more than 10,000.

The Barom Kagyu lineage originated in Tibet where Ven. Khenpo Tenzin Ling has completed the required monastic training, together with philosophical studies and ceremonial studies.

During this period of intensive training, he received many teachings, major empowerments and oral transmissions directly from his root Guru, Aten Phuntsok Rinpoche.

Putting his Dharma training into practice overseas

With his nineteen months’ stay in Vietnam prior to entering Australia in September 2019, he has a deep understanding of Vietnamese culture and has a great rapport with the Vietnamese students who make up the majority of the students in the temple. Whilst in Vietnam, he had started studying English in an English school and on coming here he has continued on an intensive course of studying English with an Australian Student who can speak Tibetan too.

 He has been having one and a half hours of English coaching three times a week since his arrival in Sydney. With his ability to speak Chinese and Tibetan, he is able to speak to the Chinese and Tibetan congregation.

The Director of Barom Kagyu Chodrak Drupju Chuling Centre invited the Ven. Khenpo Tenzin to come to Sydney, Australia to assist in teaching the Buddha Dharma.

Ven. Khenpo Tenzin is a valuable member of the Barom Kagyu Chodrak Drupju Chuling Centre, and he has been genuinely devoting his time to helping others through leading Buddhist prayers and teachings.

When Sonam Rinpoche is busy, Ven. Khenpo Tenzin lead the Chenrezig prayer and teaching every Friday night, and every Saturday morning, they lead the Medicine Buddha Puja followed by teachings. Each Sunday from 9:00am to 10:30am, they lead the Tara Puja and conduct teachings and meditation. In the afternoon, as a part of Ven. Khenpo Tenzin’s wish to preserve the Tibetan language, he has been teaching students to speak and write in the Tibetan language.

Currently, whilst Sonam Rinpoche is away in the United States to set up the new US Centre, Ven. Khenpo Tenzin is the Acting Spiritual Director of Sydney Barom Kagyu Centre.

During the present time of the world Covid pandemic, Ven.Khenpo Tenzin continues to ensure that everyone has access to teachings, spiritual and mental support, by staying connected with students and members in isolation from around the world through social media such as Facebook.

All prayers, teachings and retreats of the temple have also been simultaneously webcast through Zoom since May 2020 and Ven. Khenpo Tenzin plays a crucial role in keeping the system functioning smoothly.
