Dear Dharma Friends,
Please be advised that the 11th Annual Fund Raising Dinner for Chodrak Dechen Choling Nunnery will be held on Friday, 19th May 2017.
Originally constructed in the early 20th century, Chodrak Nunnery is situated in the holy province of Kham (Eastern Tibet), In year 2004, His Eminence Saljeye Rinpoche, the high authority of Barom Kagyu lineage, appointed Venerable Sonam Tenzin Rinpoche to look after the daily needs of the nunnery.
Majority of the nuns in Chodrak Nunnery are from impoverished families whose homes are located in remote areas. A large number of nuns are orphans who receives no financial support at all, has to travel to the nearest village to beg for food………..Due to the extremely lower living standard for the local population, the operation of Chodrak Nunnery depends entirely on the efforts of Venerable Sonam Tenzin Rinpoche’s fund raising.
The 11th Annual Nunnery Fund Raising Dinner has been organised by students from Sydney, Australia. The fund raised from this event will continue to support food, clothing and essential living costs for over 300 nuns and orphans.
